Get your yard signs!

It’s that time of year again, Lexington.

The leaves haven’t turned yet, but signup is officially open to host a Democratic yard sign this fall — and we’d love to have yours out front.

There’s something about a neighborhood full of signs. It tells the person walking their dog at 7 a.m. that they aren’t the only one. It gives a first-time voter a name to look up. It turns a quiet street into a small, cheerful argument for showing up in November. Yard signs don’t win elections on their own, but they remind people that their neighbors are paying attention — and that goes further than you’d think.

The form takes about two minutes. You’ll pick which signs you’d like — including Charles Booker for U.S. Senate and Zach Dembo for Congress in the 6th District — along with our candidates in the state House and Senate races across Fayette County.

A few practical notes:

  • Lexington addresses only.
  • Signs won’t be delivered until the first weekend in October, and only if signs are available for the races you choose. Sign up now anyway — it helps us know how many to order.
  • Placement matters. Local ordinance keeps signs out of right-of-ways (including the strip between your sidewalk and the street), public spaces, and any spot that blocks drivers’ view of oncoming traffic. Keep it on your own lawn and you’re in good shape. Questions? Lexington Code Enforcement: (859) 425-2255.

Grab a spot on the list, and thanks — as always — for the yard.
